A Stunning Venue - A Lovely Couple
As I arrived at Whalley Abbey, Clarissa and the ladies (and father of the bride too!) were having a super relaxed morning in one of the stunning rooms of Whalley Abbey. Although I am sure they were there, nobody seemed nervous and it was really chilled out. The ladies were having their hair and make-up done by Laura Wylie and Natalie Harrison. The only real anxiety seemed to be when the Father of the Bride was struggling to tie his tie.
Shortly after my arrival, the guys turned up and met in the main area outside the Abbey. Again, a little fumbling with ties before all was well and everyone was ready for the ceremony.
A Quick Pint
As there are a number of really lovely pubs in Whalley, the guys decided to have a swift drink to help settle their nerves before the ceremony resulting in some really great shots of them relaxing. In this set, I love the shot of Gary looking at the clock - a slight hint of nerves and huge excitement maybe? It’s one of my favourite images from the entire wedding as it really does tell a story.
The ceremony was held at Whalley Parish Church, a very short walk away from the Abbey. It is a really lovely, intimate church that had a very warm feel to it. The Vicar who presided over the ceremony was incredibly warm and welcoming to everyone which seemed to help settle any nerves. During the service, there were some hymns which seemed to really engage everyone. Shortly after this, the newly wed couple had a walk in the stunning grounds of Whalley Abbey before going in for their wedding breakfast. Although it had rained quite heavily earlier on, we were lucky to have some time outside for some pictures.
Following the ceremony, the bridal party headed back to Whalley Abbey for their wedding breakfast and for the dancing and partying after that. As the Abbey has two main rooms, it was great for people to spread out and enjoy celebrating. It is an incredibly lovely venue - it is seeped in history and you can really feel it when you are there.
